Our Process

A solid process and a passionate team are key to a successful project

We know. Talking about process and methodology does not sound like much fun. But taking a project from concept to completion is something we are very good at.

Developing a website is both a technical AND a creative process. It takes insight, experience, dedication and discipline to build successful websites and online applications. That’s why we follow a software development methodology.

Without a solid plan and defined goals, projects can crash and burn. In fact, scope creep tends to be the most common cause of web project failure. The best way to avoid scope creep is to plan your web development project. Informatics follows a well defined methodology that guarantees your project will be delivered on time, within budget and meets or exceeds your expectations.

Informatics’ development lifecycle strongly emphasizes discovery, analysis, and scope definition early in the project. Making design decisions upfront improves project workflow and minimizes risk and cost for all stake holders.

Discovery

The discovery phase begins with a free consultation where we assess project scope. We learn about your business goals and help you define clear cut goals. We will provide you with a formal proposal that includes a cost estimate and time for development.

Design

We review what we’ve learned during the discovery phase, synthesize the information and begin to formulate strategies and approaches to get the job done. We will then develop a creative look and feel as well as a technical requirements specification or project blueprint that clearly describes what we will be building for you. We review these items with you, make any adjustments necessary, and move to the next step.

Development

Our highly experienced team works collaboratively and can successfully accommodate any technical need your project requires. As work on your project takes shape, we call in our usability experts to make sure the navigation and functionality of your site is impeccable.

We design and build complex systems from the ground up and have expertise with various environments and tools including Active Server Pages, .NET, Java, SQL, and Oracle. Any additional features such as database development, Flash animation or other functionality are integrated at this phase. Most of our sites include web-based Content Management Systems that enable non-technical personnel to keep the site fresh and up to date after launch.

Our experience proves that maintaining a firm commitment to a process driven workflow ensures product quality and customer satisfaction. Informatics practices open standards and constant communication with our customers in order to create a flexible framework for responding to change.

Deployment

Prior to actually launching your site, we perform rigorous testing to ensure stability as well as cross-platform and browser compatibility. We will ask our customers to make time to test and we bring in outside testers who have not seen the application before. Even though we do pre-launch testing, our Quality Assurance plan begins long before launch. The creation of a strong user experience is the result of this careful planning and testing all throughout your project’s development cycle.
